Summer Is Almost Here

The Teacher Appreciation Luncheon is Tuesday, May 6th.  The theme is Summer Comfort Foods for Caring Teachers. There will also be an ice cream bar on Friday, May 9th.  The PTO is looking for donations of food and drinks for the luncheon and ice cream and toppings for the ice cream bar, as well as raffle prizes for the week.  Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated.  Please contact Meredith Jakubiak at mjakubiak@verizon.net with any questions.

 Cumberland Hill After School Enrichment presents…

 

The Bee Program

       Friday, May 2nd from 3:30 to 4:30 pm

 Learn the details of who lives and works in the hive, to how honey is made.  The story of the honeybee is fun and informative for all.  No live bees attending…when possible a few “expired” bees do come along, to allow close up inspection.  Content includes areas of Science, the history of bees, and math applications.  Hands-on props include:  frames of drawn comb, bees wax, propolis samples, and honey tasting. The class is limited to the first thirty students chosen by lottery.

Instructor:  Lynn Davignon                   Grades:  K-5       

Fee: $10.00 per student (checks made payable to Cumberland Hill PTO)

CLEAN After School Spring Classes will be starting soon. A wide variety of classes (including quilting, knit/crochet, crafting, lego club, team sports, mixed media art, and Global Celebration) will be offered this Spring.

 Come join us for an important presentation by Dr. Lawrence P. Filippeli on April 29th titled:

 

Social Responsibility and Social Networking:

A Journey into Internet Safety, Sexting, and Cyberbullying

 This program will provide information to parents and educators interested in protecting their children and students from cyberbullying, sexting, cybermobbing and online predators. Specific instruction will focus on how predators target students and what teachers, administrators, and parents can do to protect them. Topics discussed will also include the dangers of posting inappropriate pictures and messages on social networking sites, “sexting” and information on the consequences of poor behavior choices online. There will be a strong focus will be placed on Cyberbullying, Social Media and Sexting.
